As online medicines sales are increasing in popularity and safety due to new regulations. the
increase in the costs of medicines in the USA and convenience for patients are the major causes for the growth of the
online pharmacy trade.
A sign of the popularity of the online pharmacy trade is greatly shown by a pair of licensed pharmacists who has opened a Web site that is designed to provide
patients with an alternative to name-brand drugs.
USGenerics L.L.C. in Mequon will provide generic drugs approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration
to customers through mail order and online purchases
The company is owned by Mel Solochek and Jerry Spector, who are cousins. In 1984 they
formed the Wisconsin Independent Pharmacy Buying Group, which buys drugs from wholesalers
and then sells the drugs to independent pharmacy owners. The group has 55 members.
USGenerics and the pharmacy buying group are separate corporate entities but share offices at 1001 W. Glen Oaks Lane.
USGenerics has eight employees and the buying group has five employees. Solochek declined to disclose revenue for the
pharmacy buying group. Previously, Solochek owned Villard Pharmacy in Milwaukee, and Spector owned Valucare Pharmacy, also in Milwaukee.
USGenerics does not honor insurance plans. The company is encouraging consumers to work with their physicians to
replace brand-name drugs with lower-cost generic prescriptions.
Solochek, the chair of the company, and Spector, who is chief operating officer,
say by using USGenerics' services, a patient can save between 40 and 80 percent on their prescription.
A company goal is to deter people from purchasing prescription drugs in Canada, which are not inspected by the FDA, Spector said.
